New Painting and New Book Cover!
I have been waiting eagerly to post the new book cover I had completed a few months back for author Walter Rhein. With its release date in sight, I am now able to share with you these illustrations, as well as information about the book.
From the author:
"In northern Wisconsin there is a cross-country ski race called the American Birkebeiner, or Birkie for short. It is a massive, international event that draws athletes from all across the globe that would never have otherwise come to northern Wisconsin. The grueling, 50 km trail tests your strength and stamina, but more importantly, the Birkie phenomenon allows you to rub elbows with people from cultures and countries more varied than anything you could ever imagine."

The book will also be available on Amazon.com :
After 5 months of searching for the time, I have finally finished a new piece. It dawned on me recently, to hire a baby sitter in the mornings, when I'm most productive. Why hadn't I thought of this before? I look forward to cranking out pieces at a faster pace and feeling more productive! I am working on a new painting that is coming together quickly. Keep your eyes peeled, it will be coming your way soon.
Happy New Year!
Amazing how the past few months have slipped by me! I am excited to introduce to you a new piece that I just finished titled "Before I was Myself". It is my last of two pieces inspired by my journey in pregnancy. With that out of my system, I am onto a new piece that is exploring the figure, patterns and how they intertwine. I am moving in a new direction and am now working on board instead of paper. Before I had kids I built and stretched all my own canvases and they were usually really big. Since then, as a time saver I had moved away from that, working smaller and on paper. It feels great to be reverting back to larger, tougher surfaces!
This past month I have finished up an illustration for a book cover. The author is from Wisconsin and the book is a series of stories into the ventures of Nordic skiing. Once I have the go ahead I will post the book and the illustrations on my site to share with you! The book is due to be released this October.
Until Next Month,
As my little family and I welcome our new addition, Cassidy Jo Lambert, I have one new piece to share with you this month that I've recently completed, titled "Nesting". Its an amazing time in my life to find inspiration and I'm excited for what the rest of this year will bring creatively.
It is mid-summer already and I have been meaning to share with you a show I was in a few months back as it traveled through Boulder. The show was at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, titled Slideluck Potshow. To view my slide show from the one night exhibit follow the below link and click on "slide show" under my name.
I will be posting a new piece that is in the works, next month.
Until then, cheers!
Happy St. Patrick's Day
It's been a few months since my last update and I've got a lot to thank in my life for that. This month I finally finished a piece that I have been working on for the past few months, (slow progress is better than no progress). I've also got two new pieces in the works that are aimed at near completion.
The final CD's have been released for Adam Lake Band! I've finally got in my hands (and on my website), the final CD! It was so fun creating the art work for this album that it feels awesome to see the finished product!
And finally, we have been creating one huge masterpiece, due for completion June 2nd, or so they told me. We are expecting a baby girl in a little over 2 months! Good Times. The ensuing sleep depravation to come is making me cherish these last few months of normal sleep patterns and motivation I've got!
May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.
Broken Down & Stuck
Going home for Christmas (a drive from Boulder to Minneapolis), hasn't gone according to plan. The timing belt broke and the water pump seized on our car as we were pulling out of a parking lot. Having planned on leaving almost two nights ago, here we sit, waiting to see if our car will be worth the fix, good times : )
Two more pieces for my untitled personal project are almost complete and will be posted soon! Having almost completed a series of 15 new pieces, I'm really excited to get them all framed and ready to go for an upcoming showing.
Art Show Tonight!

Where: Atmosphere Apparel and Art, 9th and Pearl, Boulder, CO.
What: All local artists in a show called "The Edge of Pop"
Other Stuff: There will be music and wine - feel free to b.y.o.b.
I emailed Atmosphere Apparel and Art in Boulder last week asking if they thought my work would fit in their space. Within 3 days I was making last minute changes to a piece and having 3 pieces total, entered into a show called "The Edge of Pop"! I'm sure glad I emailed them when I did! The show will be up for two weeks.
I can't believe its already been four months since my last post! Ireland was amazing and wonderful. We also ended up in Amsterdam for a night, which was due to a missed flight. It ended up being a great time; what an amazing, seedy, diverse, beautiful and fun city!
I'm plowing right along and working on two new 11X14 pieces.
Stay tuned...I will have them posted next month!
The summer has been moving right along! Its been hot here in Boulder and all the lovely green grass and bright flowers are turning brown.
I have a few new pieces in the works. I am scaling up to 11X14 for these next pieces and am really stoked about it. Working with a larger canvas gives me a lot more freedom. Plans are in the works for an upcoming show. I've just started my search for a place to show and my goal is to have around 15 pieces completed.
Brian and I are headed to Ireland for 10 days in September!
I'm crazy excited about this trip for many reasons...but one in particular is my plan to check out Francis Bacon's art studio! After Francis Bacon died, the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin relocated his entire studio, walls and all, to their Gallery in Dublin. I've been dreaming of seeing this ever since I heard about it a couple years ago! Here is a link if you want to read more about it:
Oh, and drinking Guinness from its home land won't be so bad either.
The children's book "Unlikely Friends", that I've been working on for the past 6 months is finished! Check it out at LuLu.com
"Unlikely Friends" is $10.50 plus shipping.
My book, along with all the other works found on this site, will be available for
purchase as of June 1st!
For the past three weeks I have been working on an album cover for a Florida based band "Adam Lake". The cover is now complete and I will be posting the final CD on this site in the next few weeks! To listen to a sampling of Adam Lake's
new CD titled "The Go-Getter" follow this link:
I am awaiting the final proof of my book via snail mail. I should have it by the end of this week. If all is good it will FINALLY be for sale on LuLu.com! I can't wait to also have it available on this website! I am aiming for June 1st to have purchasing capabilities.
There are three new pieces posted since my last update in March. One of them is a piece that was commissioned (but ended up being given as a wedding gift) : ) Who can take a newly weds money? Thats just not right. It is the bird inspired piece. I had so much fun making that piece that I'm planning on doing similar ones in the future.
Ahhh Pay Pal. Well, not yet, but soon, I swear!
I've been cranking out art every minute I get while my son Cody is asleep, this includes naps, and anytime after 8:30pm! I've done 3 pieces last month, which is a record for me post Cody. I'm so excited to have found a rhythm in my work and even more excited to be able to share it with you! My big plan is to complete around 15 pieces and have some shows, so stay tuned!
I've purchased the copyright for my children's book "Making Friends". It will soon be in production and available for purchase on my website!
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
This month my little family and I are packing up all our belongings and heading off in a new direction, Boulder, Colorado. A place neither my husband nor I expected to move but are very excited about! The mountains look beautiful, the people seem cool, and the art scene is promising. I definitely see lots of hiking and road biking in my near future.
I've been updating and making changes to this site and am in the process of creating a section called "for sale" to sell my work. Its all a matter of schooling myself on the ways of PayPal and the specifics of how to set it up on my site. All in good time, but sooner than later is my hope.
I am now using the email address firstname.lastname@example.org as my primary email but I will be keeping my yahoo account as well.
I am working on a new body of work and looking forward to showing it in upcoming months in Boulder.
One new piece for this month. An album cover for a local Musician. I'll post the
final album cover with type when its done.
I am currently working on a children's book that I am writing and illustrating.
Its based off of a poem that my mom recently found that I wrote when I was 15!
I should have some pages of the book posted shortly.
Two new pieces for July.
They are both drawings of the figure with lots of collage added. I'm moving farther away from painting, but not intentionally. Its just that every time I go into the paper store, its just as tempting for me as an art supply store. We happen to have a paper store way too close to our house and I've been dropping way too much cash there! I can't stop myself!
Headed to L.A. this next week. Hopefully I'll return with lots of new ideas stuffed in my head.

My good friend Kim, a fantastic photographer, has a new site up of her own!
